Question 1

What is VELA?

Accepted Answer

VELA is a private, ID-verified membership community for emotionally intelligent adults age 35-55. Membership combines a subscription AI Companion — a private emotional-intelligence tool — with curated weekly member introductions. Three weekly time-windowed events: Temptation Tuesday (mirror introductions), Reveal Night (unexpected connections), and Echo Saturday (complementary introductions). No swipe mechanic and no transactional micropurchases. Creating an account is free.

Question 2

How is VELA different from other connection platforms?

Accepted Answer

VELA has no swiping and no boost-style purchases. Every member submits a government ID and a selfie for in-house identity review before messaging unlocks. The primary product is a subscription AI Companion that helps members understand their own attachment style, communication patterns, and preferences. Member introductions are a secondary feature surfaced inside that experience. Designed for the 35-55 age band who value depth over volume.

Question 3

Who is VELA for?

Accepted Answer

VELA is designed for emotionally intelligent adults aged 35-55 who are looking for deeper connections — whether that means committed relationships, intimate partnerships, or meaningful friendships. VELA is available nationwide in the United States. VELA is all-inclusive: couples, thruples, polycules, same-sex — all are welcome.

Question 4

What is the VELA AI Companion?

Accepted Answer

Your VELA Companion is a private AI relationship guide that walks with you through the hard questions — why your last relationship ended, what you're really afraid of, what desire actually means to you. It remembers your conversations, tracks your growth over time, and helps you build self-awareness before you meet anyone. Available 24/7, completely private — nothing is shared with your matches.

Question 5

How much does VELA cost?

Accepted Answer

Creating a VELA account is free and no payment method is required to join. Paid memberships are optional and are billed monthly or annually through PayPal; the current tiers and prices are listed at https://www.join-vela.com/membership. There is no price lock and no charge that depends on how many other members join. Cancel anytime in Settings. Residents of California and certain other US states have a 3-business-day statutory cancellation right.

Question 6

What are the weekly match drops?

Accepted Answer

VELA delivers matches through three weekly drops, each powered by a different matching algorithm: Temptation Tuesday (Tuesday 7pm - Wednesday 7pm PT) finds your closest mirror — someone who reflects your patterns. Reveal Night (Friday 7pm - Saturday 7pm PT) surfaces the unexpected connection you didn't see coming. Echo Saturday (Saturday 7pm - Sunday 7pm PT) uses an opposites-attract algorithm to find your most intriguing complement.
